"Museum in a Box" is a project to promote the Romanian intangible heritage, launched by the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in 2018, with the support of the National Cultural Fund Administration.

For nine months, 250 children from Bucharest, Piscu and Câmpulung Muscel listened to peasant stories and folk tales, which they transformed into short animated films in creative workshops – drawing, shadow play, ceramic art, origami, puppet making, storytelling, music and dance, animation – supported by 10 artists and museum educators. The aim of the project is to promote fragments of the intangible heritage among children in an attractive way, appropriate to the concerns of the new generation and their age.

#MțrMeInspire, a museum education project dedicated to families with children, appeared in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, through which we aimed to encourage parents to look around with a new look and seek support in art in difficult times. "What can you do at home during the pandemic?" was the question that also gave us pause. In the absence of workshops at the Museum, we proposed to our audience to make their own #HomeTheatre - whether it is shadow theater, animation or object theater, the important thing is to create it together with the children, starting from an idea that gives them pause. It can be the care and longing for friends or the love that you notice everywhere, even from the window, watching, for example, a bird building a nest in the tree that slowly turns into a friend. What can they say to each other, what would a dialogue between the two look like? A tree puppet and a bird silhouette can turn a dreary Sunday into a colorful one.

One of the great challenges of this period has been not being able to be with family for the holidays and yet showing our love from a distance and trying to find joy even under these conditions. A favorite song, a piece of cloth or any other transparent surface, a flashlight and a few silhouettes or a piece of cardboard, a few stones and a pencil can work wonders when we enter the fairy tale state.

From Tilincă to Opincă. Dictionar on the Jump

"From Tilincă to Opincă. Dictionar on the Jump" - a project dedicated to children and adolescents (+12 years), is an ethnological dictionary that aims to put fragments of a "vocabulary of rurality" back into use. For six months, a team of ethnologists, museum educators, visual artists and animators have transposed 22 old terms into augmented 2D and 3D animations, which are waiting to be discovered within six "pop-up museums" - interactive and participatory street installations, short-term, designed especially for the young public who are invited to actively contribute, through creative interventions, to the understanding and re-interpretation of peasant vocabulary.
